SAN DIEGO, Calif. – A spirited match went to the way of the home team as the Pacific men's soccer program fell, 1-0, to No. 10 San Diego on Friday night at Torero Stadium.
The Tigers (3-12, 1-6 WCC) battled in a closely contested match all night, but a second-half goal by the Toreros (11-2-3, 5-1-1 WCC) proved to be the difference on this Halloween evening.
It's just the second time this season the Tigers fell by a 1-0 margin, falling to Incarnate Word in the season opener by that same score.
Junior
Milo Risenhoover kept the Tigers within reach throughout the match, making key save after save and totaling a season-high eight stops in the effort defensively. In his fifth start of the season, Risenhoover faced 20 shots – the second-most in a game by either goalkeeper on the year.
Of the seven shot attempts, the Tigers managed one shot on goal in the contest off the foot of senior and captain
Luca Baltzer, who was one three Tigers to play the full length of the game.
Following a scoreless first half, Iain Wagner scored the game's only goal in the 51st minute.
Pacific mounted pressure late in search of a tying goal, but the San Diego defense held its ground on its home turf.
The Tigers return to Stockton for its next contest, welcoming Air Force for the final non-conference match of the 2025 campaign. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Knoles Field.
