SAN JOSE, Calif. – The seventh-ranked Pacific men's water polo program picked up a pair of wins Saturday after defeating Bucknell 16-12 and Pomona-Pitzer 18-12 at the Julian Fraser Memorial, hosted by San Jose State at the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center.

Freshman
Apostolos Georgaras, the reigning West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Week winner, netted 11 goals on the day for Pacific (13-5, 4-1 WCC), including a career-high eight goals against Bucknell (8-13, 4-5 MAWPC). He's up to a team-high 68 goals on the year and has scored in every game.

Fellow freshman
Borisz Kasa-Gal led the way against Pomona-Pitzer (12-11, 7-0 SCIAC) with five goals after scoring one against Bucknell. Kasa-Gal is second on the team in scoring with 50 goals on the season.

Senior
Daniel Viscia tallied six goals on the day including four against Pomona-Pitzer. Sophomore
Ori Buzaglo recorded two goals against Pomona-Pitzer and one versus Bucknell.

In net, freshman
Kiss Gergely played the full way in both games and combined for 17 saves. The reigning WCC Player of the Week honoree saved eight against Bucknell and nine against Pomona-Pitzer.

The game against Bucknell was tied 6-6 when Georgaras scored four consecutive goals to put Pacific ahead 10-6 early in the third quarter. Two more goals by Georgaras extended to 13-7 with 3:27 left in the third. The Tigers put it out of reach in the fourth as a score by graduate
Declan McJilton upped it to 16-10.

Pacific got off to a fast start against Pomona-Pitzer by scoring the first four goals and led 7-1 at the end of the first. The Sagehens responded with a big second quarter to even it 8-8 at the half, but the Tigers took control in the third as a goal by sophomore
Yoav Rendler made it a 13-9 game at the 3:28 mark. Pacific stretched it to a six-goal advantage in the fourth.

The Tigers improved to 12-1 all-time against Bucknell and 5-0 against Pomona-Pitzer. Pacific has won 11 straight meetings against the Bison.

Pacific will head back to Santa Clara for the tournament finale Sunday against Fresno Pacific at 10:40 a.m. at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. The Tigers are 2-0 all-time against FPU with the last being a 21-7 win in 2021.

Looking ahead, Pacific will look to defend its West Coast Conference Regular Season Championship at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center against No. 13 Cal Baptist. A win for Pacific would solidify the title and the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament.
