FORT WORTH, Texas – In a neutral court match-up, the Pacific men's tennis program came up short in a 4-1 decision against Liberty on Sunday on the campus of TCU.
It was the last of four matches on the weekend for the Tigers, who opened the season with a 2-2 record.
Pacific earned a point on court four as freshman
Vraj Patel picked up a straight set 7-5, 6-2 victory. The Tigers were also ahead on court three as seniorÂ
Justas Trainauskas was up a set 7-6 before play was halted early in the second.
In doubles, the Tigers dropped the point despite leading on court two. Juniors
Terence Das and
Tiago Silva were in front 5-4 when the Flames (2-1) clinched the point.
Pacific will next face Sacramento State on the road Friday at noon before playing its season opener Saturday at 11 a.m. against UC San Diego. Free pizza will be offered to fans in attendance Saturday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
