Box Score IRVINE, Calif. – A hotly contested match saw the Pacific men's tennis program jump out to an early lead, but UC Irvine was able to battle back for a 4-2 decision Friday at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.
Juniors
Terence Das and
Tiago Silva made quick work of their opponent on court three for the early edge in doubles, and freshman
Jonty Giesen and senior
Justas Trainauskas turned into a point with their 6-3 win on court two.
Trainauskas scored Pacific's (2-3) second point of the match when he defeated his opponent in straight sets. Das had a lead in the third set when UC Irvine (3-2) clinched the match in its favor.
Pacific was going up against a UC Irvine (3-2) squad that won the Big West Conference last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers remain on the road for their next contest, traveling to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday for a match with the Gauchos. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at Arnhold Stadium.
