CHARLESTON, S.C. - Hard fought and hard earned, the Pacific volleyball team stood victorious in the College of Charleston Classic final after defeating tournament host College of Charleston 16-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-18.
Three Tigers earned All-Tournament recognition, including MVP distinction for graduate outside hitter

Emily Van Groningen were each named to the All-Tournament Team.
Edwards cataloged 63 kills over the weekend, adding 18 against the Cougars in the finale. After starting the season just outside the all-time career kills top-ten, Edwards skyrocketed to sixth all-time with 1,471 career kills. On the defensive end she posted her third straight double-double in digs and kills with 11 digs on the night while adding a team leading 4 blocks against Charleston.
Heller recorded 134 assists through all three matches, while going for a season-high 46 assists against the Cougars. She went for her third straight double-double in assists and digs, posting 13 digs on the evening. After the weekend, Heller officially moved to eighth all-time in career assists with 2,835.

Jayhlin Swain led the team with 18 digs, while Van Groningen also tallied 4 blocks alongside Edwards to pave the way for Pacific's defense.
The Tigers got off to a slow start as Charleston defended its home court adequately through the first set. Pacific bounced back resoundingly in the second set, out hitting the Cougars .382 to .083 and tallying 16 kills. The third set was tightly contested, both teams playing with similar energy, but the Tigers came out on top 25-23.
Pacific's hot offense came in swiftly to end the match in the fourth as the Tigers hit .368 to Charleston's .250. The Tigers amassed 60 kills through four sets, while collecting the added bonus of six aces to Charleston's four.
The Tigers hold a three match unbeaten streak as they head into their third preseason tournament in Phoenix. Pacific meets Butler, Portland State and host Grand Canyon at the GCU classic. The weekend starts with a match against Butler on Friday, September 13.
