STOCKTON, Calif. – Opening West Coast Conference play under the bright lights of Knoles Field, the Pacific women's soccer program out-shot LMU but fell 2-0 Saturday night.
The Tigers (2-8-1, 0-1 WCC) registered 10 shots compared to LMU's (7-2, 1-0 WCC) nine. Of Pacific's 10 shots, nine came in the second half.
"The difference in the game is that one team capitalized on their opportunities, and we didn't," co-head coach
Danesha Adams said. "I felt we had really good moments, but unfortunately have to put a whole game together. We have a quick turnaround, but get another opportunity at home on Wednesday."
Graduate student
Taylor Curtis and junior
Haley Johnson each recorded two shot attempts. Sophomore
Rina Ogimoto tallied a shot on goal by the Tigers, which came in the first half.
Freshman
Sierra Schwarz played a big role in goal, making her fifth straight start and totaling four saves. Schwarz came up with a crucial save in the early going to keep the score knotted.
Senior
Aly Milford joined Schwarz as the only other Tiger to play the full length of the match. It was Milford's fourth game logging a complete 90-minute effort.
The Tigers had chances late to get on the board, but just missed by inches in the final 10 minutes. The Lions ultimately held on for the 2-0 final score.
Pacific continues conference play on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Oregon State making the trip to Stockton for its first-ever WCC contest against the Tigers.
