LA JOLLA, Calif. – A goal in the 81st minute by freshman
Sierah McCallum was the deciding factor for the Pacific women's soccer program in a 1-0 victory over UC San Diego on Sunday at Triton Soccer Stadium.
Â
The Tigers (2-7-1) played a tight defensive game with the Tritons (2-6-2) until graduate student
Taylor Curtis found McCallum for a breakaway goal to seal the game-winner. It was McCallum's fourth goal of the season, which leads the team. She's registered a shot on goal in seven consecutive games.
"Great result today and much needed," co-head coach
Danesha Adams said. "There's been a lot of noise, but we rallied as a family and will continue to push as we head into conference play next week. This group deserves this feeling again!"
Freshman
Sierra Schwarz made her fourth start in goal and seventh appearance of the season, totaling six saves for her first career victory and clean sheet.
Â
Four Tigers logged the full 90 minutes with Schwarz, junior
Alexis Pashales, senior
Aly Milford and junior
Trianne Cooper playing the complete contest.
Â
Pacific returns home to open up West Coast Conference play against LMU on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Knoles Field.
