STOCKTON, Calif. - Wrapping up a three-game homestand, the Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Cal Poly on Sunday afternoon at Knoles Field.
The Tigers (1-4) fought hard to the final whistle, but the Mustangs (1-2-2) held on for their first win of the season.
Freshman
Sierah McCallum registered a shot on goal that nearly got the Tigers on the board early into the second half. Sophomore
Libby Davy made her fifth start in net, totaling six saves on the day.
Cal Poly broke the ice on a penalty kick in the 16th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. The Mustangs added another goal in the 50th minute, scoring off a cross from the corner, doubling up the score to 2-0.
The Tigers almost found the back of the net on a corner kick in the final moments of the match, but the Cal Poly goalkeeper collected the cross-in.
Pacific looks to regroup and rest up for a road trip, beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Weber State.
"We are all very well aware that we haven't played to our level or standards yet this season," co-head coach
J.J. Wozniak said. "We are constantly working to turn things in our favor and we have set our sights on having a breakout performance this Thursday at Weber State."
