Pacific Ties Weber State with McCallum's Second Half Equalizer

OGDEN, Utah – Freshman Sierah McCallum provided a second-half spark with her first career goal as the Pacific women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Weber State on Thursday night at Wildcat Soccer Stadium.

In the 68th minute, McCallum followed up a rebound opportunity off a free kick from fifth year Laila Saravia, leveling the score at 1-1 and giving the Tigers (1-4-1) a jolt of energy to finish the second half. McCallum led the Tigers with two shots on goal in 37 minutes.

"Our group fought hard to get a result today after giving up an early lead," co-head coach Danesha Adams said. "We will keep getting better each week and prepare for a big one on Sunday against a ranked opponent."

Sophomore Libby Davy made her sixth start in net for Pacific, totaling four saves in the effort defensively. Freshman Sierra Schwarz was called upon to close out the contest in goal, making two big saves in the final moments of the match.

Weber State (0-4-3) scored the game's first goal as Ali Swensen found the back of the net off a turnover in the third minute of play.

The Pacific defense regrouped, minimizing the Wildcats' attack to just a one-goal deficit at the break.

Saravia, along with junior Allie Jones, played the full 90 minutes of the match against the Wildcats.

Weber State managed to get a few chances late, testing Schwarz in the final five minutes, however Pacific hung on for the 1-1 draw on the road.

The Tigers continue their road trip in Utah, facing No. 11 Utah State at noon PT on Sunday at Chuck & Gloria Bell Soccer Field.
