STOCKTON, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team continues its incredible season after delivering a 4-1 defeat to Portland, moving to 3-0 in conference play while winning its 12th match in a row.
The Tigers quickly got to work, clinching the doubles point on courts one and three. Pacific's No. 53 ranked doubles tandem senior
Peter Alam and junior
Justas Trainauskas extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches after handling the Pilots 6-2 from court one.
Sophomore
Tiago Silva and freshman Christof Schaertlin-Coffey claimed their second doubles win together this season after downing Portland 6-2 from court three.
Carrying the momentum into singles, Silva struck first from court three, defeating Luka Vukovic 6-4, 6-2 to put the Tigers up 2-0. The sophomore moves to 8-4 in his singles matches this season, while holding a 3-1 record from court three. Trainauskas added to the lead after a 6-4, 6-3 win on court two over Nicolas Ocana and remains unbeaten on court two this season.
The Pilots got a match back after a win on court four before Alam put the match away on court one. The senior claimed the 6-4, 6-3 win over Oscar Brown to elevate the Tigers to their 13th win of the season. Alam remains unbeaten in singles this year, moving to 9-0, while holding a 3-0 record on court one.
Pacific hosts No. 13 San Diego tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, April 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the battle of the unbeatens. Both teams haven't lost a conference match this season and the winner determines who holds first place in the WCC.
