No. 48 Tigers Blank Saint Mary's

MORAGA, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team bounced right back into the win column after a 4-0 shutout over Saint Mary's on the road.

The Tigers move to 5-1 in conference contests while improving their road record to 5-2 with one final road contest in store this weekend. The shutout snapped the Gaels' four series match win streak as the Tigers collected their first win over Saint Mary's since 2017. They last won in Moraga after a similar 4-0 decision in 2016.

Pacific got out to a hot start, grabbing the doubles point after wins on courts one and three. Senior Peter Alam and junior Justas Trainauskas struck first after defeating Saint Mary's 6-3 on court one. The duo moved to a 9-2 record this season. Sophomore Tiago Silva and freshman Christof Schaertlin Coffey locked up the 1-0 start for the Tigers after a 6-4 win on court three.

Silva struck first in singles, downing Mathis Moysan 6-4, 6-2 on court three. The sophomore holds the longest active singles winning streak on the team, moving to 12-4 on the season after going unbeaten in his last seven completed matches.

Senior Andre Rodeia quickly bypassed Pierre Lieutaud 6-1, 6-3 to put the Tigers in the driver's seat towards their 16th win of the season. Alam grabbed his 12th singles win after locking up the sweep for the Tigers. The senior captain cruised to a 6-4, 6-4 decision after defeating Carlos Ramos from court one.

Two matches remain in the regular season for the Tigers as they hold a home-away weekend. The Tigers travel to Gonzaga on Friday, April 19, their fourth road match in a row. They hold their season finale on Sunday, April 21 against Pepperdine.
