Heartbreaker in Spokane, No. 48 Pacific Falls to Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash.- The No. 48 Pacific men's tennis team fell 4-3 to Gonzaga after the Bulldogs stifled Pacific's comeback. The Tigers return home for their final match of the season as they host No. 41 Pepperdine at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on Sunday, April 21.

The Tigers started down early after the Bulldogs clinched the doubles point on courts one and two. After dropping a singles match on court two, the Tigers were looking at a 2-0 deficit before freshman Tommy Czaplinski cut the lead after a 6-4, 6-4 win on court six.

Senior Andre Rodeia tied it 2-all with a 6-3, 6-3 decision on court five. Gonzaga went up after a win in three sets on court one, leaving the match in the balance between courts three and four.

After dropping his first set, sophomore Terence Das rattled off 6-4, 6-4 decisions in his final two sets to tie the match 3-3. All eyes turned to court four as senior Ran Amar remained in a back and forth with Gonzaga's Pablo Gomez Galvan. Amar took the first set 7-5, but Galvan swiped the final two sets 7-5, 7(8)-6(6).

Pacific holds one final conference match before heading to San Diego for the WCC Tournament set for the final weekend of April. The Tigers welcome the Waves for a 2 p.m. match on Sunday, April 21 for their Match Day Madness and Senior Day celebration.
