SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The No. 47 Pacific men's tennis team fell for the first time in nearly two months after No. 58 Santa Clara collected the 4-2 win over the Tigers behind singles victories.
Due to weather concerns in the area later on Saturday afternoon, the day started with singles.
Sophomore
Tiago Silva struck first from court three, defeating Santa Clara's Luca Lemaitre 7(9)-6(7), 6-0. The win extended the sophomore's singles match winning streak to six as he moved to 11-4 on the season. Senior
Ran Amar got the Tigers up 2-0 after a 7-5, 6-3 win over Lukas Maskow on court five. He's now 11-3 in singles this season.
Courts one and two went to three sets, as senior
Peter Alam and junior
Justas Trainauskas each collected set wins before falling to the Broncos. Santa Clara grabbed two more wins on courts four and six to ice the match 4-2, foregoing the need for doubles.
The Tigers stay out on the road for a rescheduled match against Saint Mary's set for Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m.
