SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- The No. 47 Pacific men's tennis team captured its 14th match win in a row after defeating Cal Poly on the road 4-2, leading the Tigers to their first win over the Mustangs since 2014.
Pacific started down early after Cal Poly nabbed the doubles point with wins on courts three and two. The battle between both program's ranked doubles tandems went unfinished from court one.
Junior
Justas Trainauskas struck first for the Tigers, knocking off Joe Leather from court two behind a 7(7)-6(4), 6-1 win. Senior
Peter Alam gave Pacific its first lead after downing Noah Berry 6-3, 7(7)-6(5) from court one. The senior moves to 11-0 on the season and 5-0 from court one in singles.
The Mustangs tied the match 2-2 after a win on court five, but sophomore
Tiago Silva took back the lead after winning his third set tiebreaker over Fernando Fonseca 1-6, 6-1, 7(7)-6(4). The sophomore improved to 6-1 on the season from court three and the victory extended his singles match winning streak to five.
Sophomore
Terence Das iced the match from court four after falling in his opening set, rallying back to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 to push Pacific to a 15-1 record overall on the season.
The Tigers travel back north to take on No. 58 Santa Clara for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, April 13.
