STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team cataloged its tenth match win in a row after a 7-0 sweep of UC Riverside at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center to remain unbeaten at home.
The Tigers boast the longest active winning streak in the conference after Thursday afternoon's win. They moved to 10-1 against the Highlanders dating back to 2008, winning the last nine matches against UC Riverside.
Pacific made quick work of the visiting Highlanders, swiftly capturing the doubles point on courts three and two. Sophomore
Tiago Silva and freshman
Christof Schaertlin Coffey struck first from court three after a 6-2 decision before seniors
Ran Amar and
Andre Rodeia clinched the point from court two 6-1.
The Tigers cruised through a six singles match sweep over the Highlanders, with freshman
Tommy Czaplinski putting Pacific up 2-0 after downing Hugo DeGrande 6-1, 6-0. Junior
Justas Trainauskas fared similarly (6-1, 6-0) on court one over Joshua Roth.
Amar clinched the match once more for the Tigers after a 6-1, 6-3 win on court three.
Sophomore
Tiago Silva struck on court two 6-4, 6-3, while Schaertlin Coffey grabbed the tiebreaker 2-6, 6-4, 10-6. Rodeia perfected the sweep after a 6-2, 6-4 win on court four.
Pacific returns next week as its original match against LMU was moved due to unfavorable weather conditions en route to Stockton this weekend. The Tigers face the Lions at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m.
