Alaksza Extends Scoring Streak at Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, Calif. – Sophomore Dora Alaksza extended her scoring streak to 12 games in No. 17 Pacific women's water polo's 14-8 at Azusa Pacific on Thursday at Citrus College Aquatic Center.
 
The Budapest, Hungary native led Pacific (8-4, 0-1 GCC) with three goals. Junior Natasha Dykman registered two goals. Junior Hila Futorian notched three points on one goal and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Maja Lizy Dulic registered five saves in net. 
 
Azusa Pacific (9-7, 1-1 GCC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period. Futorian got the Tigers on the board at the 2:22 mark off the assist from freshman Ella Cowan. Futorian later found sophomore Noemi Alaksza who registered her second goal of the season with 16 seconds left to bring Pacific within two, 4-2.
 
The Tigers were outscored by the Cougars 8-3 in the first half.
 
Dora Alaksza tallied back-to-back goals for Pacific in the third period. Senior Annikah Lillie found junior Lucia Sarimsakci who threw the ball into the back of the cage to keep Pacific within five. The score at the end of the third period was 12-6 in favor of Azusa Pacific.
 
Dora Alaksza and Dykman notched goals with under five minutes left in the fourth period, but the Cougars posted two more to bring the game to its final score.
 
Pacific shot .296 overall and .455 (5-11) on the power play. Meanwhile, Azusa Pacific was .538 in shooting and .333 (2-6) on the power play.
 
Up next, the Tigers begin day one of the Pomona-Pitzer Convergence with contests against No. 22 LIU at 12:45 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
