Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pacific Sweeps San Diego on Pink Night

STOCKTON, Calif. – Decked out in its pink uniforms on Pink Night, Pacific women's basketball extended its home record to 11-4 with an 82-62 win over San Diego on Saturday at Alex G. Spanos Center.

"I thought we were efficient with what we were doing for the most part," head coach Bradley Davis said. "The positives are we shared the ball. We got back to that. I thought we kind of got away from that and we were playing a little one on one in some of the games prior. I think really, we set the tone defensively from the start of this game. We really got after it and knew our scout, knew our matchups. A lot of credit to the players on this one."

Senior Kadie Deaton was two points shy of matching her career high as she finished the night with a team-high 18 points while matching her season-high seven rebounds and adding four assists. Juniors Anaya James and Elizabeth Elliott racked up double doubles. James had 15 points and a season-high 10 assists. Elliott registered 14 points and 10 rebounds. Graduate student Cecilia Holmberg and sophomore Lauren Glazier finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Pacific (16-12, 8-7 WCC) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. The Tigers shot 18-of-37 (.486) in the first half while holding the Toreros to just 8-of-32 (.250).

San Diego (8-20, 4-11 WCC) got within its closest margin of 10 three times in the third quarter. But Pacific shot 7-of-10 from the field with under five minutes left to build its lead 62-49 at the end.

The Tigers wrapped up the contest outscoring the Toreros 20-13 in the fourth.

Pacific was 32-of-65 (.492) from the field, 4-of-11 from the three-point line (.364) and 14-of-19 (.737) at the free throw line. San Diego was 21-of-63 (.333) overall, 2-of-10 (.200) from behind the arc and 18-of-24 (.750) at the charity stripe.

The Tigers outscored the Toreros 50-24 in the paint and 16 points off 13 turnovers.

"We just had to regroup and get back to the spark and energy we had," Deaton said. "We worked really hard in practice, and it showed. Everyone was just excited because it's almost tournament time. So, we had to really like take care of business and handle this week. We have a lot of seniors. Everyone wants to enjoy their last ride and make a run in the tournament."

Up next, Pacific concludes the regular season as it welcomes Santa Clara for Senior Day at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

-It marked the 37th meeting between Pacific and San Diego. The Tigers have now won 13 games against the Toreros and seven of them at the Spanos Center.

-Pacific is 14-2 when leading at the half and 4-0 when scoring 80 or more points.

-James has now led the Tigers in assists the last six games. Her season-high 10 assists marks the first time since 2022 that she has recorded double figures in this category. James collected a career-high 12 assists against Academy of Art on Nov, 22, 2022.

-Three Tigers are close to reaching 1,000 career points: Anaya James (995), Elizabeth Elliott (987), Liz Smith (968)
