STOCKTON, Calif. – After taking game one of the series on Friday, the Pacific baseball team (1-2) could not repeat its success against UNLV (2-1) on Sunday, falling to the Rebels in both games of the doubleheader at Klein Family Field.
Game 1: UNLV 6, Pacific 5 (10 Inn.)
The Tigers used small ball to their advantage early on in the contest as the leadoff hitter reached base via walks in the first three innings. In the bottom of the second inning, senior
Chase Graves drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a fielding error to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Jack Metcho drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, extending Pacific's edge to 2-0 in the frame.

Andrew Sloan led to a run as sophomore
Rylan Evans knocked Sloan in with a groundout to shortstop, padding Pacific's lead to 3-0.
The Tigers and Rebels traded one run each in the fifth inning as Pacific was still in front, 4-1. Redshirt junior starter
Josh Souza pitched effectively in his Tigers debut, giving up just one run on three hits in 5.0 innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, sophomore
Tony Otis led off with a double and trotted home on Metcho's sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the game.
The Rebels responded with a three-hit, four-run top of the ninth, tying the score up at 5-5.
Advancing to extra innings for the first time this season, UNLV took its first lead of the morning with a two-out RBI single to go up 6-5. The Tigers tried to counter in the bottom of the tenth inning but ultimately could not get a runner on base.
Game 2: UNLV 8, Pacific 0
The Rebels struck early in game two of the doubleheader, holding a lead from the second inning onward. UNLV starter Sam Simon threw 7.0 scoreless innings while striking out four batters and limiting the Tigers to four hits.
Junior
Jakob Guardado made his debut on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on eight hits.
Of the Tigers' five hits in the afternoon game, freshman
Gabe Camacho laced a double for his first extra-base hit of the season.
The Tigers put pressure on the Rebels in the late innings, but Simon escaped the danger to earn his first win of the season.
Pacific returns to action tomorrow at 11 am in a standalone contest against Seattle.
