Elliott Registers 22 Points in Portland Loss

PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior Elizabeth Elliott tallied 22 points in Pacific women's basketball's 85-72 loss at Portland on Thursday at the Chiles Center.

Elliott posted her fourth 20+ point performance of the season and fifth of her career. The Inglewood, Calif. native also added seven rebounds to her stat line.

Three other Tigers also finished in double figures. Junior Anaya James registered 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. Senior Liz Smith, who returned after being out the last six games, notched 10 points, three assists and three steals. Senior Kadie Deaton also finished with 10 points.

Pacific (13-8, 5-3 WCC) had an 8-4 lead halfway through the first quarter before Portland (14-8, 6-2 WCC) erased it with a 9-0 run. The Tigers kept the Pilots' deficit within five or below in the final three minutes thanks to a 10-4 run. Portland had a 23-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Pilots continued to build on their lead outscoring the Tigers 21-14 in the second quarter and 21-16 in the third.

At the start of the fourth quarter, freshman Nyah Lowery and sophomore Lauren Glazier contributed back-to-back baskets each to make it a 70-56 game. Deaton scored from the paint at the 6:08 mark which ignited a 16-3 run. James drained a three with a minute to go to bring Pacific within single digits, 79-72. But that was as far the Tigers would get as the Pilots pulled away with 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Pacific was 26-of-60 (.433) from the field compared to Portland who was 25-of-56 (.446). The Pilots had the advantage with 8-of-30 (.267) from the three-point line and 27-of-34 (.794) at the free throw line.
