PORTLAND, Ore. – The women's basketball program put up a valiant effort against Portland on Saturday afternoon but fell 84-71 at the Chiles Center.
Senior
Anaya James posted her most dominant outing of the season with her second double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds alongside seven assists and five steals. James is just six assists away from becoming the second Tiger (5-7, 1-1 WCC) in program history to reach 500 career assists, two steals from moving into sixth place on the all-time steals list and 32 rebounds from her 500th career rebound.
Fellow senior
Elizabeth Elliott eclipsed milestones of her own during the game when she became the 15th Tiger ever to reach 600 career rebounds and the 17th player in Pacific history to score 1,200 or more points. Her 24 points against the Pilots (13-0, 2-0 WCC) led all players and her 9-for-10 performance from the field was her most efficient outing of the season.
The senior also shot 6-for-7 from the free throw line to run her total to 25-for-27 over her last three contests and is one of four players in the WCC with 40 or more free throws made this season.
Graduate
Liz Smith contributed 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the floor.
Junior
Lauren Glazier swatted three shots in the contest for a season total of 15. She's on pace to tie
Valerie Higgins for 12th most in a single season at 38 blocks.
The Tigers play at home for the last two contests of 2024, first hosting Saint Mary's next Saturday at 2 p.m. and then hosting Washington State on Monday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
