SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The
Pacific women's basketball program has one final game this season against a team outside the West Coast Conference and will be traveling to face UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Thunderdome.
Winners of the past three series meetings, a victory by the Tigers (5-5, 1-0 WCC) would match the program's longest winning streak (last done during 1986-87) in the series history. Pacific has also found success on the road against UCSB (6-4), taking the last four match-ups in Santa Barbara in defensive battles.
Neither team has reached 65 points in the Thunderdome since 2010 but Pacific's defense has managed to contain the Gaucho offense to under 60 points in all five of those meetings (UCSB is averaging 50.8 points per game at home against Pacific since 2010).
Graduate
Liz Smith was highly productive in the past two contests, logging a double-double (11 points, 10 assists) in the win over Oregon State to open WCC play and 21 points against California two days later.
Senior
Elizabeth Elliott is also on double-double watch after posting her first double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) against California last time out and sank a season high seven free throws.
Fellow senior
Anaya James scored a season-high 22 points in the win over Oregon State and torched the Beaver defense for six three-pointers.
A different trend to watch is that Pacific is 3-0 this season when sophomore
Nyah Lowery hits more than one three-pointer.
Sunday's match with UCSB will be streamed on ESPN+.
