PULLMAN, Wash. – After battling through two five-set matches last week, the Pacific volleyball program will hit the road to face Washington State on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bohler Gym and Gonzaga at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre.
Pacific (14-9, 4-7 WCC) first faces the Cougars (12-8, 7-4 WCC) looking to avenge a four-set defeat earlier in the season. In that match, graduate
Alexa Edwards led all players with 20 kills while senior
Jenna Heller served up a career-high four aces.
The Tigers took set one from Washington State 25-20, but ultimately conceded the next three sets by a combined 12 points. The loss was the first time Pacific had ever lost to the Cougars.
Against Gonzaga (1-20, 0-11 WCC) Pacific will attempt to replicate a game plan in which it pulled off the sweep. Gonzaga never exceeded 16 points in any of the three sets.
Pacific hit a blistering .347 percentage. Edwards, with 18 kills, was one kill shy of Gonzaga's team kill total.
In the standings Pacific is three games behind Washington State and six behind WCC leader LMU, with just seven minutes remaining. Of the six schools ahead of Pacific, the Tigers will face four of those schools (Pepperdine, LMU, Oregon State, Washington State) and three of those come at the Alex G. Spanos Center (LMU, Pepperdine, Oregon State).
Both matches this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
