STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific volleyball welcomes two squads at the top of the West Coast Conference standings to the Alex G. Spanos Center in LMU on Thursday at 6 p.m., and Pepperdine on Saturday at 12 p.m.
The Tigers (16-11, 6-9 WCC) last saw LMU (21-4, 13-1 WCC) on the opening night of conference play back in September. In that match, Pacific dropped the contest in four-sets despite a 17-kill effort from graduate
Alexa Edwards and a double-double from senior
Jenna Heller (32 assists, 14 digs). Despite leading every major category, Pacific was done in by 33 attacking errors compared to only 21 committed by LMU. At home versus LMU last season, the Tigers pulled out the 3-2 victory.
Against Pepperdine (14-10, 11-3) earlier in the year, Pacific again dropped a four-set match and was again led by Edwards on the attack, tallying 11 kills. The Waves defense held the Tiger offense to a season low .019 hitting percentage and forced a season high 39 attacking errors by Pacific – contrasted by only 19 from Pepperdine. Junior
Jayhlin Swain was strong defensively however for the Tigers, digging a match high 18 balls.
In the standings, Pacific can finish as high as fifth if the team were to win out its final three matches. All three matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
