STOCKTON, Calif. – With only five games remaining in the regular season, Pacific volleyball will get its only looks at Oregon State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center, and Saint Mary's on Saturday at 1 p.m. from the UCU Pavilion.
Pacific (15-10, 5-8 WCC) holds advantages over both teams in the series history, leading Oregon State (8-14, 6-5 WCC) 9-2, and a perfect 5-0 in Stockton. Wednesday's match-up will be the first between the Beavers and Tigers as conference opponents and the first overall series match up since 2017.
Graduate
Alexa Edwards is coming into the match fresh off her first career 20/20 game (22 kills and 21 digs), and the first by a Tiger since at least the 2009 season. Equally important to the offense currently are the serving abilities of junior
Jayhlin Swain and graduate
Darina Kumanova. Swain has served an ace in five straight matches, with multiple aces in the last three, while Kumanova enters the week as the conference leader in service aces.
The series between Saint Mary's (8-14, 4-9 WCC) and Pacific is much tighter with the Tigers holding a 16-13 lead.
Edwards led the Tiger attack in both matches against the Gaels last season, going for 17 and 11 kills in each match. Senior
Jenna Heller notched a double-double the last time Pacific played in the UCU Pavilion (24 assists, 10 digs) alongside three aces.
Glimpsing at the standings, Pacific is two games behind Oregon State for sixth place and by winning out the last five matches, Pacific can still finish as high as second in the West Coast Conference.
