Volleyball Travels to San Diego before Playing Home Opener Saturday against Santa Clara

SAN DIEGO – Wrapping up a 15-match road swing to begin the season, the Pacific volleyball program will head to San Diego for a 7 p.m. Thursday match at Jenny Craig Pavilion before playing its home opener Saturday against Santa Clara at noon at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
 
Pacific (10-4, 0-2 WCC) will be one of the last teams in the country to play a home game when it hosts the Broncos (4-7, 0-2 WCC). Though first, it will set its sights on a San Diego (6-6, 1-1 WCC) squad that split road matches last week by beating Gonzaga 3-0 and falling to Washington State 3-1.
 
The Tigers will be going for their first-ever road win at San Diego in program history. Pacific is 39-15 all-time against Santa Clara and have won the last four meetings.
 
Graduate Alexa Edwards ranks top-five in the country in total kills with 239 She leads the West Coast Conference in kills with 4.27 per set and points with 4.68 per set.  
 
Junior Jayhlin Swain ranks second in the league in digs with 4.27 per set. Senior Jenna Heller ranks fourth in the WCC in assists with 9.29 per frame.
 
The Tigers entered conference play having won nine in a row. It was their longest winning-streak since 2014 when they won 10 straight. Pacific went three consecutive weekends without a loss after winning non-conference tournaments at College of Charleston, Grand Canyon and Fresno State.
 
Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
