STOCKTON, Calif.—Pacific men's soccer improved to 4-2-3 on the season with a 3-0 shutout over Houston Christian (2-4-2) on Saturday.
"The challenge for the group in the locker room heading into the game was being disciplined with a better mentality for 90 minutes and ultimately they showed it," said head coach
Adam Reeves. "We finally got a week to train and get some recovery in and the guys showed what they can do with good spells like that. I was happy with the performance overall."
In the 25th minute, junior
Jorge Galvan kicked the ball past two Husky defenders in the scramble to notch the first goal for the Tigers. Fifth-year senior
Vinzent Zingel and sophomore
Danny Govea were credited with the assists.
Zingel followed with another in the net from inside the box off the assists from fifth-year senior
Abdullahi Mohamed and senior
Javier Chavez in the 34th minute.
The goals mark not only the first for the two players in a Pacific uniform, but the first career for Galvan and the first in Division I for Zingel.
With 23 minutes left in the game, Pacific was awarded the opportunity for a penalty kick after a yellow was called on Houston Christian's Ethan Giwa-McNeil.
Senior
