Emmanuel Obiefuna went with a shot to the bottom left of the goal in the 16
th minute just past UC Davis goalkeeper Charles Janssen on the way to a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers (3-2-1) were out shot by an 18-8 margin, including a 12-1 advantage in the final 45 minutes. The recipe for the victory was the defense as goalkeeper
Brian Lanier made eight saves – four in each half for the shutout. It is the second career shutout for Lanier, who was the winning goalkeeper when Pacific took down Santa Clara (Oct. 1, 2022).
The Aggies (2-2-1) were paced by a five-shot effort from Zack Lillington and four more from Cason Goodman.
The Pacific attack was led by a four-shot effort by
Vinzent Zingel and the goal by Obiefuna in the win.
Next, the Tigers will return home to Knoles Field for two of its next three contests. First up is a matchup on Wed., Sept. 13 vs. San Jose State at 7 p.m.
