TOLEDO, Spain – The Pacific women's basketball team spent much of day two in Toledo, Spain, exploring a city that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive heritage and cultural impact on Spain.
The team started the day with a bang, ziplining across the Tagus River before a local musician serenaded the team and encouraged the players to dance with the music.
The team continued with a walking tour of the historic city, led by the guide, who once again offered historical and cultural information about everything in the city as the team explored the area.
Pacific finished the day trip to Toledo, stopping at one of the two remaining sword-making shops on the city's outskirts. Toledo is famous for its steel, and the swords made by Toledo artisans were used by both Hannibal in the Punic Wars and the Roman legions not long after. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Toledo was considered the sword-making capital of the world.
The team will play its first game tomorrow, facing off against Marid Select at 7:15 PM CEST/10:15 AM PST.
