Alam and Silva Make Main Draw of Castelo Branco Invitational

CASTELO BRANCO, Portugal – The Pacific men's tennis team has recruited players from all over the globe, and this summer, the student-athletes have had a chance to represent Pacific across the globe. Peter Alam (Great Britain) and Tiago Silva (Portugal) have been making waves early in the Castelo Branco tournament this week, one of the many fixtures of the ITA Men's World Tennis Tour.

Silva, who has had a very successful summer already, automatically qualified for the main draw over players in the top 1000 ITA rankings.

Alam faced a different battle, picking up two wins in the qualifying bracket to make the main draw, including taking down the number one seed, Alexander Chepik, to qualify for the main draw. The senior dominated with his serve, recording 12 aces across the two matches.

Tomorrow Alam faces Julio Cesar Porras from Argentina, ranked #915 in the world, while Silva matches up with Jaime Faria from Portugal, the #541 ranked player and the #3 seed in the tournament.
