Two Tigers Named to Canadian Junior National Team

OTTAWA, Canada – Water Polo Canada announced its women's team roster for the 2023 World Aquatics Junior Championships, and Pacific has a few recognizable names on the list.

Current freshman Tiger Alicia Petkov and incoming Tiger Ella Cowan were named to the 13-person roster.

The 2023 World Aquatics Women's Junior Championship, held every two years, will be held September 8-15 in Coimbra, Portugal. The tournament showcases athletes under the age of 20 representing 20 countries and five continents.

"This is one example of the caliber of players we have at Pacific," said Head Coach James Graham. "We have a current team member and an incoming member of our program named to their country's junior national team; that speaks volumes. I can't wait to see what these two accomplish this summer and then have them bring that experience back to Pacific in the fall."

The Canadian team qualified for the 2023 World Aquatics Women's Junior Championship with their silver medal at the 2022 Junior Pan American Championships held last July in Indianapolis.

The 13-player roster will be led by current Arizona State Women's Water Polo Assistant Coach Ethan D'Souza, brother of Pacific's Cutino Award Finalist Reuel D'Souza.
