ELKHART, Ind. - The Pacific swim teams concluded the first day of the National Invitational Championships. The men's team is currently tied at 19th of 41 teams with a score of 61 points, while the women's team is 41st of 51 competing teams with a score of 13.
"Wow. We came ready to race today. Twelve of our individual swims moved up from their seeds going into the meet, which shows how well we swam amongst the teams today," said Head Coach Katelyne Herrington. "To top that off, we had seven personal best times today, swimming faster than we did at conference!"
In the 50 free, Dylan Parente finished 10th place with a time of 20.43 in the lone individual final of the day.
Mitchell Hopper, Alex Kurotori, Parente and Leland Baltazar all contributed to an excellent 12th-place finish of 38 teams with a time of 1:21.32. This is the second-fastest time of the season in this event, falling less than two seconds behind the swim in the MPSF Championships.
In the same event on the women's side, the group of Alexia Ferguson, Paige Sondgeroth, Jaydn Phillips and Caitlin Tan came in 36th of 51 teams with a time of 1:35.13. This also is the second-fastest time of the season, falling less than a second behind the swim in the MPSF Championships.
Aidan Scott, Bridger Sink, Aidan Vollmar and Hopper lead the Tigers to a 20th-place finish of 37 teams with a time of 3:18.09 in the 400 medley relay. This is the best time of the season for this event.
On the women's side, 33rd place was secured of 49 teams in the 400 medley relay with the group of Diana Chan, Sondgeroth, Tan and Ferguson. They finished with a time of 3:47.24 which is the second-best time of the season.
