Tigers Stand in 15th Place Through Two Days at National Invitational Championships

OCALA, Fla. – The Pacific swim and dive program progressed with day two of the National Invitational Championships at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Florida.

The Tigers remain in the top 15 of the 30-team field in the competition with 168 points. Queens leads the pack with 511.5 points, followed by Ohio State and Grand Canyon.

Highlighting the day for Pacific was an eighth place finish in the A final of men's 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:36.47.

From the individual efforts for the Tigers, sophomore Nate Rasmussen and freshman Raphael Vanhecke finished one and two in the B final of the men's 200 yard freestyle. Rasmussen clocked in at 1:36.57, followed by Vanhecke at 1:37.64.

Vanhecke has continued his strong week after yesterday where he broke the school record in the men's 200 yard IM. Vanhecke will still compete in another IM race tomorrow.

The Tigers look ahead to the final day of the NICs tomorrow, looking to wrap up the season on a high note. The National Invitational Championships will be streamed live all three days on YouTube, which can be found here. The full championship central can be found here for all information.
