Tigers Down Broncos

Santa Clara, Calif.- Pacific women's tennis team (6-4, 1-1) took down the Santa Clara Broncos (0-11, 0-2) today with a 4-1 win.

After dropping the doubles point, the Tigers shifted their focus toward singles to gain momentum for the match.

Pacific entered singles full steam ahead, sweeping the singles matches and was in a position to pick up the last two singles points. On court #3, sophomore Karina Chao remained undefeated in singles, shutting out her opponent 6-0, 6-0. On court #2, sophomore Tomi Main
picked up the second point for Pacific, 6-4, 6-3.

On court #6, senior Danielle Zamora fought and defeated her opponent, picking up the third point for Pacific. After dropping the first point 3-6, she completed the comeback and won back-to-back sets 6-1, 6-1. On court #5, sophomore Alexis Sam also took her opponent to all three sets, coming out victorious 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.

"Great bounce-back win for us today," said Head Coach Mike Erwin. "After a slow start in doubles, we swept the singles and were in a position to win the two matches that went unfinished. Karina got us on the board with her continued excellent play. I am especially happy for Tomi, Danielle, and Alexis, who responded to yesterday's losses with solid play to get the win today."

The Tigers will be back in action at home next Friday, March 31, when they take on the Pepperdine Waves with the first serve at noon.
