Pacific Falls to Santa Clara in a Back and Forth Battle

STOCKTON, Calif. – Wrapping up Alumni weekend, Pacific men's tennis (4-9, 1-2) hosted Santa Clara (9-6, 1-1) at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in front of well over 150 fans in a 4-2 win for Santa Clara.

Doubles came down to the final court, as senior Coby McCaig and freshman Tiago Silva walked through their opponent 6-2 to put Pacific up early. The Tigers fell on court #2, bringing all eyes to the main event. Junior Peter Alam and senior Manroop Saini battled it out but fell 7-5 as Santa Clara took the doubles point.

Alam got his revenge in singles, quickly winning his match on the #1 court 6-3, 6-0. Junior Ran Amar also dispatched his Santa Clara foe 6-3, 6-4 and tied the match at 2-2 with three courts still playing.

The back three courts all went Santa Clara's way, giving three points to the Broncos and, with the doubles point already in hand, took the 4-2 win.

Pacific has a quick turnaround, hosting Cal Poly at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
