Pacific Falls Short of Match Point Despite Winning Doubles

Davis, Calif.- The Pacific men's tennis team (1-4) dropped a close contest to UC Davis (4-2) 4-3, winning the doubles and two singles points.

"We toughed out a close doubles point, but Davis out-competed us in singles today," said Head Coach Robin Goodman. "We had chances up and down the lineup, but we did not properly close them out this time."

Redshirt Freshman Terence Das won a singles point for Pacific, going all three sets. After dropping the first set 4-6, he returned and won the next two 6-3, 7-5.

Junior Andre Rodeia picked up the second singles point for the Tigers in a quick match, defeating Andras Necz (UCD) 6-2, 6-1.

The Tigers also remained strong in the doubles contest. Das and junior Ran Amar picked up the first doubles point defeating the Aggies 6-2. Junior Peter Alam and Senior Manroop Saini secured the doubles point for Pacific, defeating UC Davis in a hard-fought 7-6 match.

The Tigers will stay on the road and compete against San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 11th, 2023, with the first serve set for noon.
