HAYWARD, Calif. – The #11 Pacific women's water polo team (4-1) used its high-powered offense to run to a 19-7 win over Cal State East Bay (2-3) on Saturday.
The Pacific offense took command early in this game, scoring the first four goals of the contest, including the opening tally by graduate student
Brianna Utas, who returned to the pool for the first time this season after missing last weekend. Pacific scored five times in the first two quarters and led 10-1 at intermission. Pacific added four more in the third and was ahead 14-2 headed into the final quarter. Each team scored five times in the fourth quarter.

Lucy Davis tallied a career-high five goals to lead all scorers in the contest. Freshmen
Dora Alaksza and
Alicia Petkov each scored four goals. Sophomore
Addison McGowan added two tallies while Utas, junior
Annikah Lillie, sophomore
Hila Futorian and sophomore
Szamira Koppány each added one.
Senior
Clara Vulpisi started the contest in goal and had two saves in the first half. Junior
Isabelle Knittle saw her first action of the season, playing the final 16 minutes with two saves.
Pacific is averaging 16.8 goals per game during the four-game win streak. East Bay was projected as the favorite in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) conference, ahead of Biola and Fresno Pacific, two other teams that the Tigers knocked off in this early season win streak.
Pacific returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Aggie Invite in Davis, Calif. The Tigers will play its first contest of the event against another WWPA team, Cal State Monterey Bay, at 11:10 a.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. contest with #14 San Jose State. On the second day of the Aggie Invite, Pacific will meet La Verne in a 1 p.m. game before facing #1 Stanford at 4:30 p.m.
