ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Pacific men's and women's swim teams completed day three of the MPSF Championships. The men's team is currently seventh out of eight teams with a score of 130 points, while the women's team is seventh out of 10 competing teams with a score of 131.
In the 100 fly, junior Caitlin Tan placed tournament best fifth-place with a time of 54.58 for the Tigers. Sophomore Noemi Melendez finished 13th with a time of 55.31 as well.
Sophomore Jordyn Gonzales came in 15th in the 400 IM at 4:33.71. In the 200 free, sophomore Alexia Ferguson finished 16th and sophomore Jaydn Phillips finished 17th with times of 1:52.92 and 1:52.57, respectively.
In the 100 breast, a time of 1:04.53 gave sophomore Paige Sondgeroth 16th. In the 100 back, freshman Diana Chan also got 16th with a time of 57.57.
The group of Chan, Sondgeroth, Tan and Ferguson had a great showing in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:46.25, giving them seventh.
On the men's side, the 100 fly had junior Aidan Vollmar come in 14th with a time of 48.87 and sophomore Mitchell Hopper in 16th with 49.14.
Freshman Bridger Sink got 15th in the 100 breast swimming 55.59. In the 100 back, junior Aidan Scott was 9th at 49.32, sophomore Leland Baltazar was 12th at 50.66 and senior Richard Lewis was 15th at 51.64.
In the 400 medley relay, the group of Scott, Sink, Vollmar and senior Dylan Parente contributed to a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:18.31.
Tomorrow is the final day of events as the swimmers begin competing one last time at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT. A live stream of the meets can be purchased on a pay-per-view option found at mpsports.org.
