Pacific Shuts Down Stanislaus State 68-46

STOCKTON, Calif. – A stellar defensive performance resulted in a wire-to-wire 68-46 victory for the Pacific men's basketball program over Stanislaus State on Monday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Tigers (5-8) limited the Warriors (4-6) to an 18-of-58 (.310) mark from the field including 3-of-18 (.167) from three-point range. Pacific built a 21-point first half lead that was never in jeopardy in the second.

The 46 points allowed were a season-best for the Tigers and the fewest they've allowed in a game since Nov. 16, 2021 when it beat Stanislaus State by a similar score of 65-46. Pacific matched its season-high in rebounds with 34.

Senior guard Nick Blake made his first start of the season and registered 14 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Tyler Beard came off the bench to notch a season-high 14 points and four rebounds.

Also in double-figures was senior guard/forward Judson Martindale who tallied 13 points. Beard and Martindale helped the Tigers outscore the Warriors 41-12 off the bench.

Freshman guard Villiam Garcia Adsten made his first career start and swatted a career-high three blocks. He also pulled down a career-high five rebounds and a hit a three.

Stanislaus was guided by Daniel Ameyaw's 12 points and nine rebounds.

Pacific led 14-11 in the first half when a three by Martindale sparked an 8-0 run to go up 22-11 at the 10:06 mark. A jumper by Blake extended it to 32-19 with 3:54 remaining.

The Tigers ended the first half on a 10-0 run. It started with a three by Garcia Adsten and was capped by a second chance bucket by Martindale in the closing seconds to carry a 42-21 edge into the break.

The Warriors went on an 11-0 spurt early in the second to trim it to 43-32 with 14:06 to go, but never came any closer as the deficit never dipped into single-figures. Field goals by sophomore guard Moe Odum and graduate guard/forward Greg Outlaw got it back up to 47-32, and a lay-in by sophomore forward Makai Richards increased it to 55-38 with 5:50 left.

Pacific took its largest lead of the game, 66-42, after a three by Beard at the 3:02 mark. A bucket by Richards kept it at 68-44 with 2:22 remaining.

The Tigers have a quick turnaround as they hit the road for a 7 p.m. tip at Cal State Fullerton. The final non-conference game of the year is at home on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. against Cal Maritime.
