UC Davis Tops Pacific Saturday

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball program got off to a fast start, but UC Davis made a first half run to grab the lead and stayed in front in the second for an 82-61 decision Saturday at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

The Tigers (4-8) held a 16-5 edge at the 14:33 mark of the first half, but the Aggies used a 10-0 run to get back in it and continued to streak near the end of the half and carried a 43-34 edge at the intermission. UC Davis built a 23-point lead in the second and Pacific couldn't garner enough momentum to get back in it.

Sophomore guard Moe Odum turned in a big day with team-highs of 15 points, eight assists and four steals. He was one of two Tigers in double-figures along with senior guard/forward Judson Martindale who registered 10 points.

Pacific also held a 10-2 edge in fast break scoring after forcing 15 turnovers. In addition to Odum's four steals, freshman Tan Yildizoglu recorded a career-high three and Blake tallied a pair.

UC Davis was guided by Ty Johnson's 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting. Elijah Pepper finished with 19 points.

The Tigers built a 9-3 advantage early after a hook shot by Smith. A three-pointer by Odum extended it to 12-5 and their largest lead 16-5 came on a jumper by Smith.

The Aggies crept back in it 21-15 with 12:12 left after a three by Pepper and trailed 29-26 with 7:29 to go. UC Davis then used a 10-0 run to leap ahead 36-29 with 4:53 remaining. The Aggies kept rolling and took a 43-34 lead into the break.
