STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific women's basketball heads down to southern California where it will play Long Beach State in the Beach Classic at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Walter Pyramid.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Jason Schwartz and Victoria Dennis on the call. Don Gubbins will be on the call on radio which can be heard on Pacific All-Access.
Pacific (6-4) earned its sixth win of the season and fifth at home against UC Santa Barbara on Friday, 72-61. Senior
Liz Smith led the Tigers with a season-high 24 points. The Dallas native shot 6-of-11 from the field, 3-of-11 at the three-point line and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. Juniors
Anaya James and
Elizabeth Elliott notched 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Smith leads Pacific in scoring with 15.4 points per game. She is shooting 43-of-107 (.402) overall along with 14-of-51 (.275) from behind the arc and 54-of-62 (.871) at the charity stripe.
Elliott is second in points with 13.7 per game and leads the Tigers in rebounding with 6.8 per game. James and Deaton have tallied 11.7 and 11.2 points per game, respectively. James also leads Pacific with 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
The Tigers and Beach (3-3), two former Big West opponents, will face each other for the first time since 2016. Pacific won the last four meetings before leaving the Big West in 2013.
Last season, Long Beach State made its fifth appearance in the WNIT where it fell to San Diego, 75-57. The Beach have won five Big West tournament titles with their last dating back to 2017 and made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Long Beach State is led in scoring by Savannah Tucker who is averaging 16.2 points per game, which is ranked third in the Big West. Cheyenne Givens is second with 10.8 points per game. Abby Shoff is the Beach's rebounding leader with 4.8 per game while averaging 7.8 points per game. Sydney Woodley and Davi Matthews are ranked third in the league in steals (2.5 spg) and blocked shots (1.5 bpg).
Following the game, the Tigers play one final game before the Christmas break at the Spanos Center. Pacific hosts Cal Maritime for Education Day at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
