STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team (2-3) returns to the Alex G. Spanos Center during the holiday weekend to take on Le Moyne (2-4) on Friday evening and Mississippi Valley State (0-5) on Sunday afternoon.
Le Moyne has a collective .428 field goal percentage through six contests but have allowed its opponents to shoot .488 percent from the floor. The Dolphins average 30.3 rebounds a game, allowing their opponents 41.7 rebounds for a -11.4 margin. Le Moyne collects 10.0 steals a game to its opponents 6.2, while averaging 3.3 blocks a game.
Graduate student forward Luke Sutherland is leading Le Moyne with 12.7 points a game. Sutherland shoots 40.7 percent from the field and 40% percent from three. Also averaging double digit scoring is graduate student guard Kaiyem Cleary. Cleary averages 11.8 PPG and leads the team with 6.2 rebounds per game. He shoots 43.8 percent from the floor.
Graduate student guard Mike DePersia has 31 assists through six games to lead all Dolphins. DePersia and graduate student guard Isaiah Salter lead Le Moyne with 13 steals a piece. Another graduate student, guard Nate McClure, is 18-32 from the floor and 11-22 from beyond the arc for 8.5 PPG.
Le Moyne entered its first year of Division I athletics at the start of this fall, joining the Northeast Conference from Division II. The Dolphins and Tigers meet for the first time in either of their histories.
Mississippi Valley State arrives in Stockton after a six-day road trip through California, which included a stop at fellow WCC member Santa Clara. The Delta Devils seek their first win of the season as they compete on a 13-road game streak through their non-conference games.
MVSU has averaged 49.4 PPG through the first few weeks, allowing its opponents 88.4 PPG. As a team, the Delta Devils shoot 33.1 percent from the floor. They have allowed their opponents to shoot over 50 percent from the floor but have held their opponents to 35.9 percent from behind the arc. MVSU averages 29.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 6.0 steals per game.
Two Delta Devils have averaged double digit scoring efforts through five games. Senior guard Rayquan Brown (14.0) and junior guard Donovan Sanders (10.8) lead MVSU. Brown is 28-81 from the floor, while Sanders is 22-58. Brown leads all Delta Devils with 5.2 rebounds a game, including 12 offensive boards. Sanders leads the team with eight steals so far this season. Senior guard Danny Washington has a team leading eight assists, while Sanders has seven this year.
The Delta Devils and Tigers also meet for the first time in program history.
Pacific is led by senior guard
Donovan Williams, who's averaging 12.8 points per game. He is 21-40 from the floor, while averaging 4.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward
Judson Martindale averages 11.4 PPG for the Tigers, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor, while leading the team from the free throw line, shooting 92.3 percent.
Sophomore guard
Moe Odum leads the team with 5.4 assists per game, which ranks him third in the conference. He has six steals on the year and averages 7.4 points per game for Pacific. Junior guard
Cam Denson adds 8.0 PPG and 3.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 57.7 percent from the floor.
The Tigers host Le Moyne on Friday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center. They return to the Spanos Center on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. to host Mississippi Valley State.
