Pacific Downs San Francisco in Four Sets on the Road

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.- The Pacific volleyball team (15-8, 7-4 WCC) extended their winning streak to three after defeating San Francisco (10-14, 4-8 WCC) in four sets to capture the series sweep over the Dons this season. Pacific upended San Francisco's attempts to force five sets after a dominating momentum shift came from the Tigers in the third set.

The Tigers kept the Dons at an arm's length in the first set until they were able to come away with the 25-20 win. San Francisco took the opportunity and got one back in the second, after the Tigers hit .071 to San Francisco's .229.

Pacific rebounded in the third set, swiftly dealing the 25-9 blow to the Dons, hitting .44 with one error through the duration. The hot offense only slightly cooled into the final set, as the Tigers captured the 25-16 victory to win the match 3-1.

Senior Alexa Edwards led the team with a season-high 21 kills, while hitting .298 on the evening. Sophomore Emily Van Groningen also went for new season-high, adding 14 kills to the Tigers 53 total on the night. Van Groningen hit a team-leading .595 on 23 attempts and one error. Junior Jenna Heller continued her elite orchestration of the Tiger offense, eclipsing 46 assists on the night while adding an additional three service aces and three kills.

Junior Megan Nishimura collected a season-high four service aces enroute to Thursday night's win, while also tallying 15 digs. Freshman Zoe Morales led the team with 16 digs, while Edwards earned a double-double after collecting ten digs of her own. Edwards and senior Ramonni Cook combined for eight blocks as each led the team with four a piece.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday afternoon as a huge opportunity looms before them. The second-place San Diego Toreros come to town, having just earned the sweep over Santa Clara. The Toreros got the best of the Tigers in their earlier matchup, but the Tigers have been on a hot streak as of late.

Come out and watch the Tigers take on the Toreros in Pacific's second to last home game of the season. The match begins at noon on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
