Pacific Travels to Washington for First Road Contest

STOCKTON, Calif.—Pacific women's basketball goes on its first road trip of the season this week, traveling to face Pac-12 opponent Washington. The contest is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
 
The Tigers started the season 2-0 with home wins over Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Bakersfield. Senior Liz Smith was the leading scorer in both games, racking up 16 points against the Titans and 21 against the Roadrunners. The Dallas, Texas native also matched her career-high seven assists.
 
Three Tigers are averaging double figures in points. Smith leads with 18.5 per game while graduate student Cecilia Holmberg has 13.0 per game. Junior Elizabeth Elliott is tallying 11.0 points per game.
 
Through two games, Pacific leads the West Coast Conference in defensive rebounds with 33.0 per game. The Tigers are ranked in the top three in scoring margin (14.5, second), scoring defense (55.5 per game second), free throw percentage (76.5%, third), combined rebounds per game (42.0, third), blocks (10, third) and assists (40, third).
 
Pacific is 2-3 against Washington and 14-75 overall against Pac-12 opponents.
 
The Huskies also started its season 2-0. Washington defeated Sacramento State (76-28) and North Carolina Central (113-39) at home. The Huskies have made 40 appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The furthest Washington has gone was to the Final Four in 2016.
 
The Huskies also made eight trips to the WNIT and made it to the Fab Four in 2023.
 
Washington is led in scoring by the 2023 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mention recipient Elle Ladine who averages 18.5 points per game. Also returning for the Huskies are Dalayah Daniels and Lauren Schwartz who were both selected to the league's Honorable Mention. Daniels was selected to the 2023-24 Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team Honorable Mention before the start of the season. She paces Washington with 8.5 rebounds per game and is currently averaging 10.5 points per game.
 
Next week, the Tigers host Yale for a doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pacific also hosts the annual Tiger Turkey Tip-Off. The Tigers will play Butler at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24 and UC Irvine at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25.
