Tigers Travel to San Francisco, Host San Diego for More Crucial Conference Contests

STOCKTON, Calif.- After a thrilling win over Loyola Marymount, the Pacific volleyball team returns to action to take on both San Francisco and San Diego this week. The Tigers head west to revisit the Dons before returning home on Saturday to host the Toreros in their second to last home game of the season.

The Tigers made quite the shakeup last weekend, downing the second place Lions in five sets to capture their 14th win this year. The win moved them up a spot in the conference standings and now they have the chance to do it again. San Diego sits tied for second with LMU and a win over San Francisco helps solidify their place over Saint Mary's at fifth.

Pacific last saw San Francisco in September when the Dons came to town for the Tigers' first conference game of the year. The match went to five sets, but the Tigers came out on top 3-2. Since then, the Dons have gone 2-6 in their conference matches.

The Tigers lead the series all-time against San Francisco, posting a now 17-4 record since rejoining the WCC in 2013. They are 8-2 on the road since then, which includes both of their most recent victories in San Francisco.

Four Dons have well over 100 kills this year. Leading the pack is Maria Petkova (202), then rounding out the four are Lindsey Oldendorf (171), Kennedy Muckelroy (170) and Karolina Nova (167). Aylen Ayub helps foster the offense, tallying 625 assists so far this year. She's also a contributor on the defensive, collecting 200 digs this season.

Leading the defense is Abby Wadas with 327 digs and Hayden Goodman with 82 blocks. Oldendorf adds 75 blocks of her own, while Petkova and Nova combine for an additional 322 digs for the Dons.

On Saturday, the Tigers revisit San Diego. They last saw the Toreros a month ago during a weekend in Southern California. San Diego claimed the victory in three sets. Since then, the Toreros have gone 3-3 in their past six games, including two losses to LMU. They come off a 3-0 sweep over Saint Mary's and travel to Santa Clara before visiting the Tigers in Stockton.

The Toreros are led by Amber Stivrins who has tallied 235 kills this season. Four more Toreros have notched 100 or more kills this year as well, including Kylie Pries (174), Leyla Blackwell (161), Nemo Beach (137) and Haylee Stoner (126). Conducting the offense is Isadora Tercariol, who leads the team with 602 assists this season.

Championing the defense is Madi Allen, who has totaled 264 digs this year. Aiding her in her efforts are Pries (158), Tercariol (135) and Stivrins (115). Putting up a solid defensive wall are Blackwell, who has 90 blocks this season, and Stoner, who has tallied 70 blocks this year.

The Tigers last beat the Toreros in 2021 at home in four sets. Pacific is currently 9-1 at home this year. Be sure to come out to the second to last home game this season as the Tigers honor local heroes this Saturday!
