Pacific Makes Statement with 2-1 Win at Loyola Marymount

Shelton and Pashales score goals

LOS ANGELES—Pacific women's soccer (8-9-1, 2-5, WCC) defeated Loyola Marymount (6-9-2, 0-4-2 WCC), 2-1, in its final road game of the season on Saturday.

"What a huge WCC road win for our group," said co-head coach J.J. Wozniak. "Collectively our players enjoyed a great week of training and we had the mindset to get the job done tonight."

Sophomore Anaya Shelton scored her fifth goal of the season to give the Tigers the 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute. Sophomore Alexis Pashales and junior Aniela Jensen were credited with the assists.

During the second half, the Lions tied the contest with a point from Alex Hobbs in the 83rd minute.

Four minutes later, Pashales notched the game-winning header off the assist from fifth-year senior Jaida Nyby on a third-straight Pacific corner kick opportunity in the 87th minute.

Both teams took 12 shots apiece with the Tigers having a 6-5 edge in net.

Senior goalkeeper Juliana Alexander grabbed four saves.

"We will feel good about the win tonight," said co-head coach Danesha Adams. "But we will be looking forward to getting ready for our home finale next Saturday night versus San Francisco."

Up next, Pacific concludes the season at Knoles Field as it hosts San Francisco for Senior Night at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.
