SANTA CLARA, Calif. –
Luke Avdalovic and
Keylan Boone registered 20-point performances Saturday afternoon, leading the Pacific men's basketball team to a 95-89 victory over Santa Clara at the Leavey Center.

Leonard Perry said after the game. "If we continue to protect the ball and share it, we can be one of the deepest teams in this league."
Boone led the Tigers (11-12, 4-4) in scoring with 27 points, matching a career-high set at San Diego on January 5. Shooting 71.4 percent (10-for-14) from the field, Boone knocked down a career-high six three-point baskets and corralled three rebounds. Coming alive in the second half of play, the junior from Tulsa, Okla., propelled the Tigers with 19 points and hit crucial shots down the stretch to secure the win.
Surpassing the 20-point threshold for the second time this season, Avdalovic tied a season-high 23 points and shot 61.5 percent (eight-for-13) from the field. Shooting 55.5 percent from distance, Avdalovic connected on five of his nine attempts from beyond the three-point line and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Judson Martindale and
Donovan Williams also reached double figures for the Tigers, scoring 17 and 11 points, respectively. Martindale shot over 70 percent from the field for the third time in the last five games, while Williams led the team with four made free throws.
The Tigers assisted on 24 of 33 baskets throughout the game, with
Moe Odum leading the team with six. Odum continues to show his vision and passing ability during the conference slate, tallying 37 in eight games to lead all WCC freshmen.
Starting the game on a 13-3 run, the Tigers controlled the pace of play in the first five minutes. Recovering quickly, the Broncos (16-7, 4-4) gained the advantage and embarked on a 22-6 run to take a 25-19 lead at the 9:04 mark of the first half.
Trailing 33-30 with just over four minutes left in the first half, the Tigers outscored the Broncos 16-6 to take a seven-point advantage, 46-39, heading into the halftime break.
The Tigers never relinquished the upper hand during the final 20 minutes of play and built a 12-point lead, 51-39, in the first minute of the second half. The Broncos fought back, cutting the deficit to one, 74-73, with 5:45 left in the game. Fending off the Broncos late, the Tigers used multiple defensive stops to earn the six-point upset victory.
Pacific returns to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, as it hosts Pepperdine in a West Coast Conference contest at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
