STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team (3-0-4) continued its dominant non-conference run, extending the unbeaten streak to 13 games in non conference play with a 2-1 win over Weber State (1-5).
Jaida Nyby and
Jade Enalen scored for the Tigers, and
Jenae Packard and
Abigail Wolf both had assists.
Lauren Frohan had six shots, with two being on goal; both numbers led the team.
Laila Saravia had three shots, and
Ryanne Molenaar had two as the Tigers fired 21 total shots.
The Tigers used 22 players in the match, the second highest tally this season.
"Not just depth, but quality depth," said Co-Head Coaches
Danesha Adams and
J.J. Wozniak. "Players that we trust and believe in; we know they will go out there and do their job. They are excited to be on the field, and they deserve it. They have worked hard in training. It is all about longevity. We feel like now, with the depth we have and the players we have in the program, it will help long term."
The Tigers struck early, as Packard found Nyby in front of the net, who fired the ball past the Wildcat goalkeeper for her first goal of the season. The Wildcats responded a few minutes later, finding the net in the 30th minute to bring the game even at one. The two teams combined 19 shots and ten shots on goal in the first half.
The Tigers dominated the second half, firing 10 shots to Weber State's one. Pacific had a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks in the second half over the Wildcats. Enalen put the Tigers ahead in the 58th minute as Wolf made one of her signature runs down the wing on attack and crossed the ball into the box where Enalen buried it to give the Tigers the lead and the win.
"It was great," said Adams and Wozniak. "We allowed them to stay in the game in the first half. We came out with some energy in the second half and knowing we have the ability to score goals. Just needed to get one in the back of the net, they saved one off the line, but at the end of the day, for us, we have got to continue to find ways to score goals."
The Tigers are back at Knoles Field on Sunday at 5 p.m., where they will take on San Jose State.
