FRESNO, Calif. - The unbeaten streak continues for the Tigers with their third straight 1-1 draw. As with the Iowa game, the Tigers trailed early before finding an equalizer late to secure the tie.
Haleigh Wynne scored her first goal of the season, while Haley Johnson fired five shots with one on goal. Jenae Packard and Allie Jones both put shots on goal as well. In goal, Brenna Crump had two saves. Anaya Shelton recorded an assist on the Wynne goal.
The Bulldogs scored early after a Pacific foul in the box; the penalty kick was taken and scored by Fresno State to put them up 1-0. The game was physical, with 24 fouls between the two teams. The Bulldogs had six corner kicks in the first half, but the Tiger's set piece defense held strong and kept it a one-goal game.
The Tigers took eight shots in the second half, highlighted by Wynne's left-footed strike off a pass from Shlelton in the 79th minute to draw even with Fresno State. Packard had a look at a game-winning goal off a free kick in the 90th minute, but the Fresno State goalkeeper made the save to secure the 1-1 tie.
"It was a challenging week in many ways, two road matches against quality opponents that were going do all they could to beat us," said Co-Head Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak. "To come away with another 1-1 draw tonight is disappointing for sure. Still, the players deserve tremendous credit for being committed to getting back into the game and being a better version of Pacific soccer in the second half. We scored a great goal and created several more big moments, including a fantastic free kick with the last kick of the game that forced their goalkeeper into a great save, but we couldn't find the winner. We will rest up, recover, and prepare for our upcoming home match against Weber State this Thursday night."
The Tigers are back home next week, hosting Weber State on Thursday and San Jose State on Sunday.
