Tiger Men's Water Polo Moves to 4-0 with Two-Game Sweep at Brown

Jeremie Cote had five goals in Sunday's contests
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Pacific men's water polo team (4-0) added two more wins to its season total with a 13-7 win over #17 Fordham followed by a 16-7 victory over Wagner on the second day of the Bruno Classic, hosted by Brown.

"Day two gave us great reminders by presenting us with opportunities to get better," said Head Coach James Graham after the two wins. "We were presented with adversity in the first game: things were not coming easily. However, re-orienting to our core values of competitive stamina, team cohesion and extreme ownership, we persevered through today's obstacles and found success."

After two dominant wins on Saturday, the Tigers were tested against the pesky Fordham Ram team (2-2) in a defensive contest. The Rams led 2-1 late in the first quarter until sophomore Reuel D'Souza scored two goals in the final 67 seconds to give the Tigers a 3-2 edge. Both teams scored four goals in the second period, and the Tigers led 7-6 at intermission.

Pacific opened the second half with two unanswered goals before Fordham tallied its only goal in the half, sending the match to the fourth with the Tigers leading 9-7. The Tigers controlled the fourth quarter by scoring four unanswered goals and holding the Rams scoreless. Pacific outscored the Fordham in the second half, 6-1.

D'Souza, Mihailo Vukazic and Jeremie Cote each scored three times for the Tigers. Matthew Hosmer and Bogdan Djerkovic added two each to account for Pacific's 13 goals.

Pacific's strong second-half defensive effort against Fordham carried into the contest against the Wagner Seahawks (1-3) as the Tigers did not allow a goal in the first 12 minutes of the contest, jumping out to a 7-0 start behind goalkeeper Joey MacLeane before Wagner scored at the four-minute mark of the second quarter. Pacific has allowed just four first-quarter goals through the first four games, outscoring the opponents, 20-4.

Senior Calvin Behm led the scoring with three goals. Four Tigers contributed two each: D'Souza, Hosmer, Cote and Djerkovic. Ten Tigers scored in the contest including sophomores Daniel Viscia and Filip Norell, who both scored their first collegiate goal.

Pacific wraps up the three-day Bruno Classic with a 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT Monday contest against host #19 Brown (3-2) in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on the Bears' campus. Brown scored 19 goals in its 19-17 win over Air Force in its last contest.

"Tomorrow, we move onto our hosts, Brown, who have always been disciplined and well organized," Graham said. "We look forward to the challenge."
