Tiger's Down Broncos for First Time Ever

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team (5-0-6) finished the non-conference schedule with the program's first-ever win over Santa Clara (3-6-1) by a final score of 2-0.

Haleigh Wynne and Anaya Shelton scored for the Tigers in the win, and Jenae Packard and Jade Enalen each had an assist. Jaida Nyby and Wynne fired three shots for the team lead, and Wynne put two on goal. Brenna Crump had nine saves en route to her second shutout of the season.

The two teams were back and forth in the first half, each trying to find a break in the opposing line before Packard found Wynne on a beautiful through pass, and Wynne buried it in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. The Tigers fired seven shots in the first half while Crump recorded three saves.

Not 10 minutes into the second half, a Tiger breakaway put them up by two as Enalen put a pass across the front of the net, and Shelton fired the ball past the keeper for her third goal of the season and to put the Tigers up by two. The Broncos did not go away quietly, firing four shots on goal in the final 15 minutes of the game but could not break the Tiger defense.

The Tigers travel to Santa Clara next week to start conference play. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
